BOULDER, COLORADO, June 3, 2010 – Stratom, Inc. has secured a licensing agreement with the Department of Defense, Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) for the development and sale of the Tactical Timed Firing Device™ (TTFD), a small timed firing device that is used to initiate energetic charges and tools. The TTFD will eventually be used in the field to neutralize Unexploded Ordinances (UXO) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The TTFD was taken on by Stratom through a Technology Transfer initiative with the Technical Support Working Group, which is a national interagency research and development program for combating terrorism at home and abroad.
Following the Licensing Agreement, Stratom plans to spend an additional three to four months in final development before the TTFD becomes available for sale. Anticipated customers who will use the TTFD include Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams across the Department of Defense, as well as bomb squads within the Department of Homeland Defense and local and state agencies.
“We are excited to get TTFD’s into the hands of our nation’s warfighters and first responders who need this capability for the Global War on Terror,” says Stratom President, Mark Gordon. “Concurrently the Tactical Timed Firing Device will be a great addition to our product line up.”
Long term plans for the TTFD may include an integration capability that will allow the TTFD to be placed and initiated by an Unmanned Ground Vehicle, which would provide even safer means of UXO controlled detonation, says Stratom’s President.
