Stratom, Inc. Wins Advanced Robotics Research and Development Contract with SPAWAR SSC Pacific
BOULDER, COLORADO, August 28, 2009 –
Stratom, Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in mobile defense robotics and engineering, was awarded a contract for Semi-Autonomous Manipulation and Sensing by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) SSC Pacific of the Department of the Navy. Once fully developed, the tool changer will be used onboard unmanned ground vehicles to assist in the identification and disposal of improvised explosive devices including roadside bombs, buried mines, trip wires and other hazardous devices that threaten the safety of our soldiers in battle.
This contract is a great addition to Stratom’s already stellar portfolio of projects. Stratom President and CEO, Mark Gordon, said about the project: “This is a great opportunity for Stratom to further establish ourselves as a key player in the robotics and unmanned vehicle industry, plus we are thrilled to provide employment opportunities for high-level engineers in our community.” In the last few months Stratom has taken on additional employees to support and boost growth in the robotics industry.
